Vendor Spotlight…. Muse & Creator Photography

This week’s spotlight…. We present Geoff Rowe, of Muse & Creator Photography!  Geoff is new to our preferred vendor list this year, but we have had the pleasure of working with him on various on property events, and Geoff is always a pleasure to work with, and great behind the camera!  This week, we are happy to present… Muse & Creator!

Geoff Rowe, the man behind the camera at muse & creator, was born in London and honed his craft working in the UK and Europe before making California his home by way of Arizona where he met his lovely wife Mary Jo.   He has his own romantic story to tell after meeting Mary Jo through Match.com.  It has been an adventure for the two of them incorporating his ‘quirky’ English style with her ‘energetic’ Italian family!  It’s a story of finding your soul mate and life long partner . . .

Geoff has worked in fashion and commercial photography in the US, UK and Europe, shooting runway in London, Phoenix and Scottsdale. He earned a Licentiateship at the prestigious British Institute of Professional Photographers in 2006 where his submission panel was shortlisted for the Peter Grugeon Award.  In between fashion engagements, whenever possible, he can be found at a motor racing circuit. If you really want to get his attention, offer him a chance to take pictures of Formula One race cars. In fact he has had racing images published!  As a former fashion and commercial photographer, his style and keen eye will capture memories of your day with originality and flair. He possesses and exceptional eye for the subtle interplay of light and shade, producing stunning images that will capture your special day.

UNITY CEREMONY TO IMPRESS YOUR GUEST AND INSPIRE YOUR LOVE

Love is a symbol of eternity.  It wipes out all sense of time, destroying all memory of a beginning and all fear of an end.

Unity Ceremony Ideas…

Traditional, unique, it’s all for your liking.

13 coins

  • Each coin holds a promise that is spoken at the altar.  Acceptance of the coin, means taking trust unconditionally with dedication.
    • The symbolism is recognizing the responsibility to support and care for your partner.

Cord of Three/Wedding Lasso

  • Three strands are used, one each for the couple, and the third symbolic to uniting families.

Wine lock box

  • The box is used to conceal love letters at the altar.  This wine box is kept in sacred for the treasured letters and wine to be enjoyed at a later date.

Wine toast to life and future

  • The couple would pour wine/or have wine poured, to a single glass to share.

Ring warming (passed to guests, to bless or kiss)

  • The couples’ family and friends would pass the wedding rings, to be warmed with love.  The warmed rings are then placed by each, to the nearly married hand of their partner.

Sand

  • Sand is used to symbolize the uniting of two.
    • 3 glass vessels will be needed.  2 with colored sand and one empty.
    • Once poured, the intertwined pattern of the sand represents two persons uniting.

Water

  • Water is used to symbolize the uniting of two.
    • 3 glass vessels will be needed.
    • The mixture of the water (could be one with color) represents two persons uniting.

Candle

  • Candles are used to symbolize the uniting of two.
    • The couple will light a shared single candle, lit by their individual candle stick.

Flower Ceremony

  • The couple would exchange a flower as a symbol to their love.

Tree Potting

  • The couple would pot a tree to symbolize the start of their marriage growth

Hand fasting

  • The couple’s wrists are tied together during ceremony.  This practice is where the term “tying the knot” derives.

Whichever you’re hosting, a low key Intimate Wedding or The Bona Fide Wedding of the Year, the following suggestive steps could lessen any unnecessary emotion or expense.

Take the time to break it down per subject BEFORE you look at wedding sites.  This will allow you to shop smart, be efficient and avoid angst.  Start with the most pricy of the items and work your way down the “wedding budget list”.  WEDDING BUDGET EXAMPLE:

GOAL…

50% of the Wedding Budget will go to the following:

  1. Venue
    1. What does the venue include?  This is an important saving tool – limiting rentals is a good thing, they get very pricy.
    2. Venue Food and Beverage – how much?  Regardless of per plate or a food and beverage minimum…HOW MUCH?
    3. Outside Coordinator
      1. Do you want extensive staging?  Hire a coordinator for specialty lighting and far-reaching décor.
      2. Do you want to keep things simple?  Enlist family and friends to participate in some DIY bridal party projects.

The remaining 50% of your budget, will go to the following:

  1. Overnight accommodations (hotel room/guest room block)
  2. Honeymoon
  3. Wedding rings
  4. Photographer
  5. Band
  6. D.J.
  7. Clergy/Officiate
  8. Bakery/Cakes/Cupcakes
  9. Wedding Couples Attire
  10. Hair and Make-up
  11. Stationary for save the dates, wedding invitations, place cards, programs, rehearsal dinners or farewell brunches.  Don’t forget the postage.
  12. Guest favors, gift for out of town guests and bridal party gifts.
  13. Transportation, if needed.
  14. Non-essential, but fun added vendors – cigar roller, photo booth caricature artist, performers, specialty lighting and so forth.
  15. Wedding Website
  16. Wedding License

Always ask for a costing estimate from every venue or vendor.  An estimate will show any “extra” cost.  Example of why a costing estimate is necessary: upgradable items, taxes and individual tip.

Last but not least it doesn’t hurt to ask for available discounts – just in case you missed something (such as military discount).  If you’re not opposed to a Monday through Thursday date, you’re typically looking at huge savings; lesser site rental (at times ½), food and beverage minimums, hotel rates and travel expenses.

Make your site visit appointments nearer each other… Save time-save on gas for your car too.

Now you have your wedding budget in mind – go, have fun with the planning of your big day.
